Abstract

The study was conducted in July 2018. Sampling of sedut snails (Cerithidea obtusa) which was carried out in the waters of Mendol Island, Kuala Kampar District, Pelalawan Regency was aimed to determine the differences in the content of Pb, Cu and Zn between slugs and sediments and to know the consumption limits and the level of heavy metal pollution in the waters of Mendol Island. The method used in this study is the survey method. Sampling was determined using purposive sampling. The results of this study indicate the value of the metal content of Pb, Cu, and Zn in sedut snail highest at station 2, respectively: 9,2633 µg / g, 72,040 µg / g, 111,748 µg / g. Whereas for Pb, Cu, and Zn metals, the highest sediment was found at station 2, namely: 23.990 µg / g, 4.795 µg / g, 48.587 µg / g The results of linear regression analysis of Pb metal concentrations in snail meat showed negative results, and the concentration of Zn and Cu metals in snail meat showed positive results. namely Pb with a value of 14.1930 kg / week on Zn metal with a value of 111.7483 kg / week, while Cu metal at station 2 with a value of 72.0400 kg / week

Abstract

Organic matter is one indicator of environmental fertility either on land or at sea. Content Organic matter in the waters will experience an increase caused by discharges from households, agriculture, industry and organic waste from land to coast. The objective of this research is to know the content of organic material in water and sediment in the waters of Coast Mirror and the relation of organic matter content to water and sediment. The result of calculation of organic matter content in water ranged from 26.6 – 49.3 mg/l and the content of organic matter in sediment ranged from 3.9 – 5.1 %. Furthermore, through simple linear regression test known that the relationship of organic matter content in water and sediment has a weak relationship with the correlation r = 0.53. The analysis of sedimentary fractions in the pulau halang muka is dominated by muddy substrates.

Abstract

Located in Teluk Bayur bay the port is of the five biggest and busiest ports in Indonesia. High sea transportation activities and anthropogenic activities may lead to heavy metal pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of Pb and Cu metals, in seagrass (Sargassum sp.) and to analyze the feasibility of consuming Sargassum sp. The method used in this study is a survey method, by analyzing heavy metal at Laboratory Pekerjaan Umum of Riau Province. The water quality temperatures 30-31oC, and salinity of 30-31 ppt, appeared curred velocity 0.06-0.08 m/sec, water transparency 100% with a depth of ± 1 m and pH 7. Pb concentrations the highest is 2.9367 μg/g at stations close to the port and the lowest is 2.2506 μg/g at stations close to tourist areas, and the concentration of Cu metal shows the highest 3.3850 μg/g at stations close to community settlements, and the lowest is 2.7772 μg/g near the port area of Teluk Bayur. Based on the PTWI value, Sargassum sp. those originating from the waters of Teluk Bayur, West Sumatra, are still safe for consumption. Based on the Anova Pb and Cu tests in Sargassum sp. do not different (p> 0.05).

Abstract

This research was carried out in December 2021. Sampling and water quality measurements were carried out in the Bukit Batu Muara River, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Sample analysis was continued at the Marine Chemistry Laboratory, Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau. The purpose of this study was to determine the estimation of carbon stocks in sediments, the comparison of carbon stocks between transects, and the relationship between density and carbon stocks in the Muara Sungai Bukit Batu mangrove area, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The method used in this study is a survey method. Parameters measured included mangrove density (Ind/Ha), organic matter content, and carbon stock in sediments. In addition, water quality was also measured in the form of temperature, salinity, and degree of acidity. Analysis of carbon stock using the loss on ignition method. The result of the average density of mangroves throughout the transect is 3733.33 (Ind/Ha). The lowest carbon stock value in sediments is in transect 2 with medium mangrove density with a value of 29.26 tons/ha, while the highest carbon stock value is in transect 3 with high-density mangrove areas with a value of 36.15 tons/ha. The results of a simple linear regression to determine the relationship between mangrove density and carbon stock show a coefficient of determination R² = 0.023, which means that 2.3% of total carbon stock is affected by density, while 97.7% is influenced by other factors. The value of R = 0.152, which means that the relationship between density and carbon stock in the Bukit Batu River estuary area, Bengkalis Regency, is low.

Abstract

The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) phenomenon is a phenomenon that occurs in the Indian Ocean due to differences in sea surface temperature anomalies between the Western Indian Ocean and Eastern Indian Ocean regions. This interaction produces high pressure in the Eastern Indian Ocean (South of Java and West of Sumatra) which causes the flow of air masses to blow westward. The IOD phenomenon affects oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature, salinity, currents, and sea level rise in Indonesian waters. The Malacca Strait is a very important waterway because it connects the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea (Pacific Ocean) so it is strongly influenced by the IOD phenomenon. This research was conducted from November 2022 - February 2023. Global data collection in this study was located in the waters of the Strait of Melaka and data collection for validation was carried out in the waters of North Rupat. This study uses data analysis using secondary data and primary data to validate the secondary data used so that it can prove that the global data in this study are accurate. The results of this study found that in the period 2013 - 2022, the range of sea surface temperature of the Malacca Strait is 27 - 32°C. The salinity of the Malacca Strait waters ranges from 32.54 - 33.49 ppt. The current speed in the Malacca Strait is classified as weak to strong with the direction of movement of the Malacca Strait ocean currents back and forth. The Malacca Strait waters have a mixed tidal type of double daily inclination with an F value of 0.6 cm. The sea level rise in the Malacca Strait ranges from 0.50 - 0.76 cm. The IOD phenomenon affects sea surface temperature, salinity, sea level rise, and current velocity depending on the IOD phase

Abstract

This research was conducted on August 31, 2021 – December 7, 2021, at the UPTD KPSDKP, West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature differences on incubation time, hatching rate, and survival rate of turtle hatchlings (Lepidochelys olivacea). The method used in this study is an experiment that uses 3 trials plus 1 control, with 3 repetitions. Turtle eggs were incubated with the same depth and number of eggs with the addition of different temperatures from incandescent lamps with different powers. Then proceed with the calculation of incubation time, percentage of hatching, and survival of hatchling. Based on the results of the research, for the calculation of incubation time, the experimental unit with the shortest incubation period was produced by experimental unit B, with a temperature range of 27.5–29.5⁰C, which was 58 days. The incubation period that took the longest was the control experimental unit with an average temperature of 25⁰C, which was 65 days. For the results, the most optimal hatching rate was produced by experimental unit B, with an average hatching rate of 86%. Meanwhile, the lowest hatching rate was obtained from experimental unit C with an average hatching rate of only 53.3%. Then for the survival of the hatchlings after being quarantined for one week, all of them show the number 100%, which means that no hatchlings died during the quarantine
